Students Get Microsoft Office 365 Free!

Students and educators from select schools can use their .edu email accounts to get the Microsoft Office 365 Software Suite for free and waive the yearly subscription fee for as long as they are enrolled at their school at the Microsoft Store. A yearly subscription to Office 365 would normally cost $279.96 over 4 years. Office 365 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access and Publisher, as well as cloud support, SkyDrive online storage space and 60 minutes of Skype calls per month. Only select schools qualify for this deal. Check to see if your school is listed.

Microsoft has set the end of life for Microsoft XP and Office 2003 for April 8th, 2014. End of Life has lots of meanings, in tech talk, it means support and updates are going away. There’s no more support or lifelines. Phoning a friend is almost as useless as calling a support line. No more security patches or bug fixes. The countdown is on. Come April 8th, 2014 other vendors will likely discontinue supporting the XP operating systems on new releases of their software too. The end date is near, but the world isn’t coming to end.
