best-training-videosIf you are looking for some great training videos, I don’t recommend Googling "world's best training videos." Instead, check out our list! We love to share clips and resources that you might find useful in your work, so here goes.

The best training videos to share with your team

1. Choosing the Right Search Terms (1:43)

Sometimes we just assume that everybody knows how to search the internet effectively. But it’s actually a skill and, while most of us can get by, you can actually get more efficient and more effective results with a little know-how.

2. 5 Easy Steps to End Email Overwhelm (6:11)

Most of us could use help taming that inbox! Learn to process your incoming email in such a way that your inbox is empty at the end of the day. Hint: don’t use your inbox as a to-do list or for file storage!

3. Office 365 Sharing and Collaboration (37:48)

The way we share information and work together is quickly evolving as more and more software and services move to the cloud. Users can be unaware of, or overwhelmed by, software changes, especially as Microsoft, Google and others continue to push updates more frequently and often with very little fanfare.

Just-in-time video training is a great way to keep up with today’s best practices. Our Learning Site was designed to solve this problem, offering members ongoing access to software training.

4. How to Create Strong Secure Passwords (11:57)

This video presents a neat system for creating (and remembering!) strong passwords without reusing the same password more than once.

Interpersonal skills for personal and professional development

5. 4 Magic Phrases You Can Use to Respond to ANYTHING (5:13)

This one will at least wake you up. But once you get past the home-video feel and become accustomed to the high energy of the presenter, it’s truly useful information.

6. How to Spot a Liar (18:50)

“On any given day we're lied to from 10 to 200 times, and the clues to detect those lie can be subtle and counter-intuitive.” Learn how to recognize deception -- and why honesty is a value worth preserving.

7. The Power of Vulnerability | Brene Brown (20:49)

Another TED talk. Maybe you’ve already seen this one; millions of people have. We are wired for human connection, and we don’t leave that behind when we come to work. That’s why this is a great training video. It is about showing up in our lives, and showing up at work fully human and ready to rock.

Management tips for your team leaders

8. Spell it Out: Give clear concise directions (2:03)

Taking the time to give clear concise directions pays big dividends, especially when it comes to training the next generation of workers. This is a good reminder to be direct and explicit with our expectations.

9. Learn One of the Most Powerful Interpersonal Skills (3:03)

Spoiler alert: it’s inoculation. Which has been surprisingly under-represented in the management and leadership training I have participated in. But it’s brilliant and simple and I will definitely add it to my repertoire.

10. How to Give Constructive Feedback Effectively (4:05)

Feedback is just so important to employee development and satisfaction, we couldn’t put together a list without including it. There are a ton of videos available, but we chose this one: with a professorial demeanor, Malcolm Munro delivers a solid, very approachable presentation on constructive feedback.

Bonus: How to Start a Movement? Leadership Lessons from Dancing Guy (2:57)

Including this one just because it’s awesome. Hope you like it!

As I was compiling this list for you, I was reminded why YouTube is not an effective training strategy. Too much information, some of it very poor quality, littered with ads and it is crazy easy to get distracted from your goal. If you want to use video as part of your training strategy (and we highly recommend that you do!) be sure to use a curated system with high quality training videos, and have your team members follow a clear learning path.

Our Learning Site offers ongoing software training using videos as well as live training opportunities all included in the package. Learn more about the blended learning approach by watching our short overview video.
